MHW Named as an FQHC

Effective October  31, 2013, Mountain Health & Wellness has added a new dimension to our identity. We are now a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Health Resource Services Administration’s (HRSA) grant award process is extremely competitive and challenging, but with undaunted perseverance, we made it!! To the best of our knowledge, we are the first behavioral health organization in Arizona to receive this award and the only new FQHC award for Arizona this year. This says a lot about our pioneering spirit and innovative model of health and wellness.

This is truly a proud and transformative event for us and for our community. As an FQHC, we will be able to expand our reach and respond to even more of Pinal County’s severely underserved health needs in ways we haven’t been able to before. With this award, we are now among an elite group of FQHC’s in Arizona, such as Mountain Park Health Center, Adelante, Sun Life, Marana, and others. This amazing growth opportunity makes us a stronger organization.

While this grant supports our Pinal County services, it opens the door to apply for expansion grants for our Yuma services as well as other possibilities down the road.

2014 Fit Families Earth Day

This event is being held in conjunction with the City of Apache Junction and will be held on April 12th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Earthheart Park.  MHW and Earthheart Park are located at the corner of Superstition and Plaza in Apache Junction.

At 10:00 am there will be a Lady Bug release and during the event you can learn how keeping our community healthy keeps us healthy.

At the Farmers Market you will find fresh and locally grown fruits, veggies and herbs ready for the kitchen.  Honey’s, jams & jellies.  Fresh farm eggs, fudge, candy, chocolate & homemade crafts created by local artisans.

There will be musical entertainment and wellness demonstrations as well as kids’ activities and for the whole family.
